Quartal scale
The scale is written in alto. Soprano
is one octave higher. Mezzo soprano is a half octave higher. Tenor
is a half octave lower. Bass is one full octave lower.
A musical palindrome (sounds the same
forwards and backwards) the quartal scale is based of fourths
and fifths. It's smooth and serene sound captivated American composers,
notably Aaron Copeland and Paul Hindemith in the early 20th century.
If mixing chimes in this line the manufacturer
suggests blending Quartal with Mongolian.
